A person had been driving an ox loaded with luggage. The ox looked towards him and said: I have not been created for this but for lands (i. e. for ploughing the land and for drawing out water from the wells for the purpose of irrigating the lands). The people said with surprise and awe: Hallowed be Allah, does the ox speak? Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I believe it and so do Abu Bakr and 'Umar. Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: A shepherd was tendirig the flock when a wolf came there and took away one goat. Tile shepherd pursued it (the wolf) and rescued it (the goat) from that (wolf). The wolf looked towards him and said: Who would save it on the day when there will be no shepherd except me? Thereupon people said: Hallowed be Allah I Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I believe in it and so do Abu Bakr and Umar believe. - Hadith Muslim 2388a (islam)

(the wife of the Prophet) `Umar bin Al-Khattab used to say to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) "Let your wives be
veiled" But he did not do so. The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to go out to answer the call of nature at
night only at Al-Manasi.' Once Sauda, the daughter of Zam`a went out and she was a tall woman.
`Umar bin Al-Khattab saw her while he was in a gathering, and said, "I have recognized you, O
Sauda!" He (`Umar) said so as he was anxious for some Divine orders regarding the veil (the veiling
of women.) So Allah revealed the Verse of veiling. (Al-Hijab; a complete body cover excluding the

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'The (people of) Bani Israel used to take bath naked (all together) looking at each
other. The Prophet (ﷺ) Moses used to take a bath alone. They said, 'By Allah! Nothing prevents Moses
from taking a bath with us except that he has a scrotal hernia.' So once Moses went out to take a bath
and put his clothes over a stone and then that stone ran away with his clothes. Moses followed that
stone saying, "My clothes, O stone! My clothes, O stone! till the people of Bani Israel saw him and
said, 'By Allah, Moses has got no defect in his body. Moses took his clothes and began to beat the
stone." Abu Huraira added, "By Allah! There are still six or seven marks present on the stone from
that excessive beating." - Hadith Al Bukhari 278 (islam)

By Allah, nothing prohibits Moses to take a bath along with us, but sacrotal hernia. He (Moses) once went for a bath and placed his clothes on a stone and the stone moved on with his clothes. Moses ran after it saying: 0 stone, my clothes,0 stone, my clothes, and Banu Isra'il had the chance to see the private parts of Moses, and said: By Allah, Moses does not suffer from any ailment. The stone then stopped, till Moses had been seen by them, and he then took hold of his clothes and struck the stone. Abu Huraira said: By Allah, there are the marks of six or seven strokes made by Moses on the stone. - Hadith Muslim 339 (islam)

here." I asked Al-Jarud who was by my side, "What does he mean?" He said, "It means from his throa
to his pubic area," or said, "From the top of the chest." The Prophet (ﷺ) further said, "He then took out m
heart. Then a gold tray of Belief was brought to me and my heart was washed and was filled (wit
Belief) and then returned to its original place. Then a white animal which was smaller than a mule an
bigger than a donkey was brought to me." (On this Al-Jarud asked, "Was it the Buraq, O Ab
Hamza?" I (i.e. Anas) replied in the affirmative). The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The animal's step (was so wid
that it) reached the farthest point within the reach of the animal's sight. I was carried on it, and Gabrie
set out with me till we reached the nearest heaven
When he asked for the gate to be opened, it was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel answered, 'Gabriel.' It wa
asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has Muhamma
been called?' Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellen
visit his is!' The gate was opened, and when I went over the first heaven, I saw Adam there. Gabrie
said (to me). 'This is your father, Adam; pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned th
greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious son and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascende
with me till we reached the second heaven. Gabriel asked for the gate to be opened. It was asked
'Who is it?' Gabriel answered, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied
'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel answered in the affirmative. Then it wa
said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened
When I went over the second heaven, there I saw Yahya (i.e. John) and `Isa (i.e. Jesus) who wer
cousins of each other. Gabriel said (to me), 'These are John and Jesus; pay them your greetings.' So
greeted them and both of them returned my greetings to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O piou
brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me to the third heaven and asked for its gat
to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel.' It was asked, 'Who is accompanyin
you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel replied in th
affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened
and when I went over the third heaven there I saw Joseph. Gabriel said (to me), 'This is Joseph; pa
him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed
O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fourth heaven and asked fo
its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel' It was asked, 'Who i
accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel replie
in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excel lent visit his is!
The gate was opened, and when I went over the fourth heaven, there I saw Idris. Gabriel said (to me)
'This is Idris; pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said
'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fift
heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel.' It wa
asked. 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?
Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is! S
when I went over the fifth heaven, there I saw Harun (i.e. Aaron), Gabriel said, (to me). This is Aaron
pay him your greetings.' I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You ar
welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel ascended with me to the sixth heave
and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked. 'Who is it?' Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel.' It was asked
'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabrie
replied in the affirmative. It was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!
When I went (over the sixth heaven), there I saw Moses. Gabriel said (to me),' This is Moses; pay hi
your greeting. So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said, 'You are welcomed,
pious brother and pious Prophet.' When I left him (i.e. Moses) he wept. Someone asked him, 'Wha
makes you weep?' Moses said, 'I weep because after me there has been sent (as Prophet) a young ma
whose followers will enter Paradise in greater numbers than my followers.' Then Gabriel ascende
with me to the seventh heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabrie
replied, 'Gabriel.' It was asked,' Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.' It wa
asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed
What an excellent visit his is!
So when I went (over the seventh heaven), there I saw Abraham. Gabriel said (to me), 'This is you
father; pay your greetings to him.' So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said, 'Yo
are welcomed, O pious son and pious Prophet.' Then I was made to ascend to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (i.e
the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary) Behold! Its fruits were like the jars of Hajr (i.e. a place nea
Medina) and its leaves were as big as the ears of elephants. Gabriel said, 'This is the Lote Tree of th
utmost boundary) . Behold ! There ran four rivers, two were hidden and two were visible, I asked
'What are these two kinds of rivers, O Gabriel?' He replied,' As for the hidden rivers, they are tw
rivers in Paradise and the visible rivers are the Nile and the Euphrates.
Then Al-Bait-ul-Ma'mur (i.e. the Sacred House) was shown to me and a container full of wine an
another full of milk and a third full of honey were brought to me. I took the milk. Gabriel remarked
'This is the Islamic religion which you and your followers are following.' Then the prayers wer
enjoined on me: They were fifty prayers a day. When I returned, I passed by Moses who asked (me)
'What have you been ordered to do?' I replied, 'I have been ordered to offer fifty prayers a day.' Mose
said, 'Your followers cannot bear fifty prayers a day, and by Allah, I have tested people before you
and I have tried my level best with Bani Israel (in vain). Go back to your Lord and ask for reduction t
lessen your followers' burden.' So I went back, and Allah reduced ten prayers for me. Then again
came to Moses, but he repeated the same as he had said before. Then again I went back to Allah an
He reduced ten more prayers. When I came back to Moses he said the same, I went back to Allah an
He ordered me to observe ten prayers a day. When I came back to Moses, he repeated the sam
advice, so I went back to Allah and was ordered to observe five prayers a day
When I came back to Moses, he said, 'What have you been ordered?' I replied, 'I have been ordered t
observe five prayers a day.' He said, 'Your followers cannot bear five prayers a day, and no doubt,
have got an experience of the people before you, and I have tried my level best with Bani Israel, so g
back to your Lord and ask for reduction to lessen your follower's burden.' I said, 'I have requested s
much of my Lord that I feel ashamed, but I am satisfied now and surrender to Allah's Order.' When
left, I heard a voice saying, 'I have passed My Order and have lessened the burden of My Worshipers." - Hadith Al Bukhari 3887 (islam)

I was brought al-Buraq Who is an animal white and long, larger than a donkey but smaller than a mule, who would place his hoof a distance equal to the range of version. I mounted it and came to the Temple (Bait Maqdis in Jerusalem), then tethered it to the ring used by the prophets. I entered the mosque and prayed two rak'ahs in it, and then came out and Gabriel brought me a vessel of wine and a vessel of milk. I chose the milk, and Gabriel said: You have chosen the natural thing. Then he took me to heaven. Gabriel then asked the (gate of heaven) to be opened and he was asked who he was. He replied: Gabriel. He was again asked: Who is with you? He (Gabriel) said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? Gabriel replied: He has indeed been sent for. And (the door of the heaven) was opened for us and lo! we saw Adam. He welcomed me and prayed for my good. Then we ascended to the second heaven. Gabriel (peace be upon him) (asked the door of heaven to be opened), and he was asked who he was. He answered: Gabriel; and was again asked: Who is with you? He replied: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been sent for. The gate was opened. When I entered 'Isa b. Maryam and Yahya b. Zakariya (peace be upon both of them), cousins from the maternal side. welcomed me and prayed for my good Then I was taken to the third heaven and Gabriel asked for the opening (of the door). He was asked: Who are you? He replied: Gabriel. He was (again) asked: Who is with you? He replied Muhammad (ﷺ). It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied He has indeed been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and I saw Yusuf (peace of Allah be upon him) who had been given half of (world) beauty. He welcomed me prayed for my well-being. Then he ascended with us to the fourth heaven. Gabriel (peace be upon him) asked for the (gate) to be opened, and it was said: Who is he? He replied: Gabriel. It was (again) said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been sent for. The (gate) was opened for us, and lo! Idris was there. He welcomed me and prayed for my well-being (About him) Allah, the Exalted and the Glorious, has said:" We elevated him (Idris) to the exalted position" (Qur'an xix. 57). Then he ascended with us to the fifth heaven and Gabriel asked for the (gate) to be opened. It was said: Who is he? He replied Gabriel. It was (again) said: Who is with thee? He replied: Muhammad. It was said Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and then I was with Harun (Aaron-peace of Allah be upon him). He welcomed me prayed for my well-being. Then I was taken to the sixth heaven. Gabriel (peace be upon him) asked for the door to be opened. It was said: Who is he? He replied: Gabriel. It was said: Who is with thee? He replied: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and there I was with Musa (Moses peace be upon him) He welcomed me and prayed for my well-being. Then I was taken up to the seventh heaven. Gabriel asked the (gate) to be opened. It was said: Who is he? He said: Gabriel It was said. Who is with thee? He replied: Muhammad (may peace be upon him.) It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and there I found Ibrahim (Abraham peace be upon him) reclining against the Bait-ul-Ma'mur and there enter into it seventy thousand angels every day, never to visit (this place) again. Then I was taken to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha whose leaves were like elephant ears and its fruit like big earthenware vessels. And when it was covered by the Command of Allah, it underwent such a change that none amongst the creation has the power to praise its beauty
Then Allah revealed to me a revelation and He made obligatory for me fifty prayers every day and night. Then I went down to Moses (peace be upon him) and he said: What has your Lord enjoined upon your Ummah? I said: Fifty prayers. He said: Return to thy Lord and beg for reduction (in the number of prayers), for your community shallnot be able to bear this burden. as I have put to test the children of Isra'il and tried them (and found them too weak to bear such a heavy burden). He (the Holy Prophet) said: I went back to my Lord and said: My Lord, make things lighter for my Ummah. (The Lord) reduced five prayers for me. I went down to Moses and said. (The Lord) reduced five (prayers) for me, He said: Verily thy Ummah shall not be able to bear this burden; return to thy Lord and ask Him to make things lighter. I then kept going back and forth between my Lord Blessed and Exalted and Moses, till He said: There are five prayers every day and night. O Muhammad, each being credited as ten, so that makes fifty prayers. He who intends to do a good deed and does not do it will have a good deed recorded for him; and if he does it, it will be recorded for him as ten; whereas he who intends to do an evil deed and does not do, it will not be recorded for him; and if he does it, only one evil deed will be recorded. I then came down and when I came to Moses and informed him, he said: Go back to thy Lord and ask Him to make things lighter. Upon this the Messenger of Allah remarked: I returned to my Lord until I felt ashamed before Him. - Hadith Muslim 162a (islam)

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When the call for prayer is made, Satan takes to his heels passing wind so that

tries to interfere with the person and his thoughts and say, "Remember this and that (which he has not
thought of before the prayer)", till the praying person forgets how much he has prayed. If anyone of
you does not remember whether he has offered three or four rak`at then he should perform two

Some people of ‘Ukl or ‘Urainah’ came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and found Madinah unhealthy. They went there when they became well, they killed the herdsman of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and drove off the camels. The news about them reached the prophet (ﷺ) early in the morning. So he sent people in pursuit of them, and they were brought when they day had risen high. He ordered and their hands and feet were cut off and nails were drawn into their eyes, and they were thrown out of Harrah. They begged for water but were not supplied water. Abu Qilabah said: They were people who had stolen, killed, apostatized after their faith and fought against Allah and his Apostle (ﷺ). - Hadith Abu Dawud 4364 (islam)

Anas said, "Some people of `Ukl or `Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them. So
the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a
medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the
Prophet and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet (ﷺ) early in the morning and he
sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their
hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron, They were
put in 'Al-Harra' and when they asked for water, no water was given to them." Abu Qilaba said,
"Those people committed theft and murder, became infidels after embracing Islam and fought against
Allah and His Apostle ." - Hadith Al Bukhari 233 (islam)

Some people of the tribe of `Ukl and `Uraina arrived at Medina to meet the Prophet (ﷺ) and embraced
Islam and said, "O Allah's Prophet! We are the owners of milch livestock (i.e. bedouins) and not
farmers (i.e. countrymen)." They found the climate of Medina unsuitable for them. So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
ordered that they should be provided with some milch camels and a shepherd and ordered them to go
out of Medina and to drink the camels' milk and urine (as medicine) So they set out and when they
reached Al-Harra, they reverted to Heathenism after embracing Islam, and killed the shepherd of the
Prophet and drove away the camels. When this news reached the Prophet, he sent some people in
pursuit of them. (So they were caught and brought back to the Prophet (ﷺ) ). The Prophet (ﷺ) gave his orders
in their concern. So their eyes were branded with pieces of iron and their hands and legs were cut off

the climate of Medina unsuitable for them. So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered that they be given some camels
and a shepherd, and ordered them to go out with those camels and drink their milk and urine. So they
set out, but when they reached a place called Al-Harra, they reverted to disbelief after their conversion
to Islam, killed the shepherd and drove away the camels. When this news reached the Prophet (ﷺ) he sent
in their pursuit (and they were caught and brought). The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered that their eyes be branded
with heated iron bars and their hands be cut off, and they were left at Al-Harra till they died in that

A group of people from `Ukl (or `Uraina) tribe ----but I think he said that they were from `Ukl came t
Medina and (they became ill, so) the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) she-camel
and told them to go out and drink the camels' urine and milk (as a medicine). So they went and dran
it, and when they became healthy, they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels. This new
reached the Prophet (ﷺ) early in the morning, so he sent (some) men in their pursuit and they wer
captured and brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) before midday. He ordered to cut off their hands and legs an
their eyes to be branded with heated iron pieces and they were thrown at Al-Harra, and when the
asked for water to drink, they were not given water. (Abu Qilaba said, "Those were the people wh
committed theft and murder and reverted to disbelief after being believers (Muslims), and fough

Once `Umar bin `Abdul `Aziz sat on his throne in the courtyard of his house so that the people migh
gather before him. Then he admitted them and (when they came in), he said, "What do you think o
Al-Qasama?" They said, "We say that it is lawful to depend on Al-Qasama in Qisas, as the previou
Muslim Caliphs carried out Qisas depending on it." Then he said to me, "O Abu Qilaba! What do yo
say about it?" He let me appear before the people and I said, "O Chief of the Believers! You have th
chiefs of the army staff and the nobles of the Arabs. If fifty of them testified that a married man ha
committed illegal sexual intercourse in Damascus but they had not seen him (doing so), would yo
stone him?" He said, "No." I said, "If fifty of them testified that a man had committed theft in Hums
would you cut off his hand though they did not see him?" He replied, "No.
I said, "By Allah, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations
(1) A person who killed somebody unjustly, was killed (in Qisas,) (2) a married person wh
committed illegal sexual intercourse and (3) a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle an
deserted Islam and became an apostate.
Then the people said, "Didn't Anas bin Malik narrate that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cut off the hands of th
thieves, branded their eyes and then, threw them in the sun?
I said, "I shall tell you the narration of Anas. Anas said: "Eight persons from the tribe of `Ukl came t
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and gave the Pledge of allegiance for Islam (became Muslim). The climate of th
place (Medina) did not suit them, so they became sick and complained about that to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)
He said (to them ), "Won't you go out with the shepherd of our camels and drink of the camels' mil
and urine (as medicine)?" They said, "Yes." So they went out and drank the camels' milk and urine
and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and took away all th
camels. This news reached Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , so he sent (men) to follow their traces and they wer
captured and brought (to the Prophet). He then ordered to cut their hands and feet, and their eyes wer
branded with heated pieces of iron, and then he threw them in the sun till they died." I said, "What ca
be worse than what those people did? They deserted Islam, committed murder and theft.
Then 'Anbasa bin Sa`id said, "By Allah, I never heard a narration like this of today." I said, "
'Anbasa! You deny my narration?" 'Anbasa said, "No, but you have related the narration in the way i
should be related. By Allah, these people are in welfare as long as this Sheikh (Abu Qilaba) is amon
them." I added, "Indeed in this event there has been a tradition set by Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). The narrato
added: Some Ansari people came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and discussed some matters with him, a man fro
amongst them went out and was murdered. Those people went out after him, and behold, thei
companion was swimming in blood. They returned to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said to him, "O Allah'
Apostle, we have found our companion who had talked with us and gone out before us, swimming i
blood (killed)." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out and asked them, "Whom do you suspect or whom do yo
think has killed him?" They said, "We think that the Jews have killed him." The Prophet (ﷺ) sent for th
Jews and asked them, "Did you kill this (person)?" They replied, "No." He asked the Al-Ansars, "D
you agree that I let fifty Jews take an oath that they have not killed him?" They said, "It matters littl
for the Jews to kill us all and then take false oaths." He said, "Then would you like to receive the Diy
after fifty of you have taken an oath (that the Jews have killed your man)?" They said, "We will no
take the oath." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) himself paid them the Diya (Blood-money)." The narrator added
"The tribe of Hudhail repudiated one of their men (for his evil conduct) in the Pre-lslamic period o
Ignorance
Then, at a place called Al-Batha' (near Mecca), the man attacked a Yemenite family at night to stea
from them, but a. man from the family noticed him and struck him with his sword and killed him. Th
tribe of Hudhail came and captured the Yemenite and brought him to `Umar during the Hajj seaso
and said, "He has killed our companion." The Yemenite said, "But these people had repudiated hi
(i.e., their companion)." `Umar said, "Let fifty persons of Hudhail swear that they had not repudiate
him." So forty-nine of them took the oath and then a person belonging to them, came from Sham an
they requested him to swear similarly, but he paid one-thousand Dirhams instead of taking the oath
They called another man instead of him and the new man shook hands with the brother of th
deceased. Some people said, "We and those fifty men who had taken false oaths (Al-Qasama) set out
and when they reached a place called Nakhlah, it started raining so they entered a cave in th
mountain, and the cave collapsed on those fifty men who took the false oath, and all of them die
except the two persons who had shaken hands with each other. They escaped death but a stone fell o
the leg of the brother of the deceased and broke it, whereupon he survived for one year and then died.
I further said, "`Abdul Malik bin Marwan sentenced a man to death in Qisas (equality in punishment
for murder, basing his judgment on Al-Qasama, but later on he regretted that judgment and ordere
that the names of the fifty persons who had taken the oath (Al-Qasama), be erased from the register
and he exiled them in Sham." - Hadith Al Bukhari 6899 (islam)

'O Messenger of Allah, we are nomads who follows the herds, not farmers and growers, and the climate of Al-Madinah does not suit us.' So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)told them to go out to a flock of female camels and drink their milk and urine. When they recovered - and they were in the vicinity of Al-Harrah - they apostatized after having become Muslim, killed the camel-herder of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and drove the camels away. News of that reached the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he sent people after them. They were brought back, their eyes were smoldered with heated nails, their hands and feet cut off, then they were left in Al-Harrah in that state until they died." - Hadith An Nasai 305 (islam)

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that some Bedouins from 'Urainah came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and became Muslims, but the climate of Al-Madinah did not suit them; their skin turned yellow and their stomachs became swollen. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent them to some pregnant camels of his and told them to drink their milk and urine until they recovered. Then they killed the camel-herder and drove the camels away. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent people after then and they were brought back. their hands and feet were cut off and their eyes were smoldered with burning nails. The Commander of the Believers, 'Abdul-Malik, said to Anas - when he was narrating this Hadith to him - "(Were they being punished) for Kufr or for a sin?"
